Step 1: Commit to providing valuable free content

Building the Know, Like, and Trust Factor is what leads people to want to purchase from you. And the best way to build the KLT Factor is to provide valuable free content.

People need to hear from you consistently. In fact, research shows that someone needs to hear you say the same thing on average 7 times before they will spend money with you.

So commit to providing free value and start earning that trust with your audience. Start with my episode on how you can generate 100 content ideas in just one sitting!

Step 2: Have a tool to capture your leads and stay in touch

Social media is not enough by itself. Maybe you’ve heard it said before, but using only social media to get leads for your business is like building a house on borrowed land.

Email will always be the best way to create a home base to keep in touch, and most of your sales will come from there.

My recommended tool to help you with this is ConvertKit.

Step 3: Shout about your value

You’ve probably thought to yourself at some point that you’re talking about yourself or your business “too much.” It’s a common mistake that people actually talk too little about their offers! But it can be hard to get excited to talk about your stuff when you feel like you are always saying the same thing.

Enter the solution: having the right graphics to show off your offers and business!

You can use graphics to convey much more than face-value information. Good visuals will convey your brand look & feel, and give people an idea of the kind of experience they can have with you.

Having great graphics will make you feel excited to post about your stuff, and the result? More impact and more sales!

My favorite tool to create stunning visuals is Boss Project’s Creative Template Shop.

Step 4: Think about how your free content leads into someone paying you

It’s one thing to publish content and be consistent with it. But do you have a solid handle on how someone can take the next step with you? Are you making it easy for people to pay you?

If you haven’t yet connected the dots on how your free content would translate into making money, come participate in the next Selling Made Simple challenge, or enroll in my upcoming round of Crickets to Customers.

Step 5: Get a professional’s eye when you need it

Adopt the concept of “just in time learning.” Instead of indiscriminately consuming all the content you can and being in constant information overload, ask yourself strategically what you need right now, where you are in your journey, and what the next best step is.

Invest in coaching or consults with professionals at key moments in your journey to help you stay focused on the very next best step.
